Removing Concrete from Drains & High Pressure Hydro Drain Cutting
We offer a Direct, Contract or Sub-Contract Service on all drainage works across the UK with a vast amount of experience in larger and commercial drainage projects.
Nationwide Drain Clearing Experts and Drain Unblocking Services.
Drain Blockages can be caused by a range of issues from a build-up of fats, oils, grease or soaps, dirt, silt, tree roots buildup and heavy obstructions (concrete, cement, stone), or structural defects like corrosion. Whatever the cause, the consequences of a blockage can be serious from bad smells, a collapsed sewer pipe or a toilet overflowing. The solution is often removing an obstruction, unblock and drain cleaning or even repairing a structural drain defect. Datomic engineers recognise that when something goes wrong, it can add another stressful pressure to your already busy day. That’s why we’re contactable 24/7, 365 days a year supported by full CCTV systems to aid speedy resolution on drain and sewer blockages.
One of the most popular solutions is the high pressure remote lateral drain cutting option, Our Drain-Jet Robotics (powered by Mauerspecht) system is designed for the large-scale removal of issues such as limescale, failed liners, concrete ingress, mass roots, etc. If you have a blocked drain, we can use robotic cutting to help you clear the way. We provide robotic cutting equipment and services for pipework. Qualified engineers in 40+ locations across the UK with years of experience in high level unblocking drains and pipework.
What causes concrete to block a drain?
Concrete and cement can leak into drains for a number of reasons including:
• Broken pipes
- Hidden breaches in the pipework or broken pipes can lead to concrete leaking back into the drainage system after groundworks.
• Poor site preparation
- Poor planning or workmanship can cause leaks where concrete can flow into a drainage system and cause a blockage.
• Accidental contamination
- Construction or renovation groundworks errors, failure to clear site correctly resulting in cement, concrete or building materials being washed, or swept into drains.
Datomic provide a simple, fast and cost-effective solution for concrete removal from drains & pipe rehabilitation using a the latest robotic cutters. Our team uses a combination of advanced robotic-cutters and water jetting allowing us to quickly and safely remove concrete from your drains. Contact us to discuss your requirements and see how we can assist with your concrete in drains issues.

How to deal with Concrete in drain blockage?
There are a number of ways to remove concrete from drains, including:
High pressure water jetting:
This can work well, particularly if the concrete is not fully yet set.
Robotic cutter:
Can cut through concrete and stone blockages by inserting cutter into a manhole which will travel down the pipe.
Mechanical cutting head or auger:
This is effective to break up smaller amounts of hard concrete, however, can be difficult for larger deposits.
Liquid, Concrete dissolving solution: This can be used to soften the concrete and allow debris to flow through. However, this is not recommended for large deposits and this method requires caution, It is only suitable for certain types of pipes.
We aim to tailor a drain clearing solution that is right for your requirement, There are different ways that concrete removal from drains can be completed with all highly effective at dislodging the concrete or cement block. Many projects are completed by using a robotic cutting device that can cut through concrete and stone blockages. Alternatively, cement mortar removal from drains can be completed via ultra high-powered jetting tools that use hydro cutting at high PSI cutting through large lumps of concrete built up in the drain.
'No Dig' drain clearing for blockages in drains, sewers and pipes :
Using "No Dig" drain clearing utilises remote robots that can travel into all drains and sewers most to get any drainage blockage problems solving concrete blockages in drains with ease,. We are proud to have the exclusive rights to this unique 'No-Dig' technology in the UK. With Milling Robots alongside Lateral Cutters and UHP machines this make us a one-stop-shop for all aspects of robotic drain cutting and removing concrete from drains using high pressure drain clearing tools or drain blockage clearance for any commercial or domestic residential drainage systems.
Our response teams of trained specialist drain engineers experienced in removal of concrete buildup from drains and can help and advise no matter how big or small the job may be, ensuring you are left with a functional drainage system. 'No-Dig' Drain clearing of concrete and cement blockages in sewers and high pressure clearing of concrete cutting in underground pipes is what we do. With over 20 years experience we are experts in providing a one stop solution to remove concrete from drains.
Drain milling
is a non-invasive method of clearing drains and pipes, drain milling combines CCTV cameras with robotics, directional high-pressure water jets and a wide bore drill bit with the ability to remove blockages and buildup deposits. This is a reliable method to remove heavy drain deposits alongside being able to enlarge the diameter of a pipe.
Hydro cutting
is a method of cutting & removing hard materials like concrete with the use of a high powered hydro jet instead of a mechanical cutting material such as a cutting disc. The process uses water which is forced at very high pressure (up to 23,000 PSI) through a very small nozzle, providing a tight directional jet of water with a force strong enough to cut through concrete and even metal (if required).
What are the benefits of Drainage Lateral Cutting?
• Reopening Lateral Drain Connections
- After lining a drain, lateral cutting can reopen pipe flow from connecting drains, soil vents & sewers.
• Removing Drain Obstructions
- lateral drain cutting can remove obstructions like concrete, root ingress & calcium build ups without excavation.
• Creating Smooth Drain Flow to Damaged Pipes
- lateral drain cutting can be used to smooth damaged drain lines and increase or restore flow.
• Eliminate or Remove Warped Areas
- lateral drain cutting can be deployed with precision to eliminate warped areas within a drain which could cause blockages or structural issues.
Datomic are of the UK's largest providers of commercial drain cutting and concrete removal from drains, as a result, We offer a Direct, Contract or Sub-Contract Service on all drainage works across the UK with a vast amount of experience in larger and commercial drainage projects
Robotic CCTV driven remote cutters - For larger blocked drains and drain clearing we use Drain-Jet Robotics technology which is a ultra high pressure drain jetting system. This can clear blocked drains using up to 1500 bar and capabilities in drains and sewers of all shape profiles from 300mm to 1000mm
Small High Pressure Debris Cutters - Using our smaller robot to access and repair blocked drains and blocked pipes are nimbler. Perfect for when access is restricted or limited to a smaller pipe diameter system. This is designed to work on blockages for pipe and drain profiles from 180mm to 450mm.
